Trauma can be defined in many ways. Sometimes trauma is overt such as past physical, sexual, verbal, and/or emotional abuse. Other times, it is covert and can look like growing up with neglect or living in a society where you don't feel safe due to your race, religion, class, gender, or sexual identity and orientation. Lastly, it can look like transgenerational trauma and the trauma that was passed onto you via previous generations. No matter the trauma you have encountered, we will work together to decrease your symptoms and help you create a life that brings you joy and fulfillment. I approach trauma through a somatic lens, paying attention to what your body is communicating to us, as well as through a narrative, internal family systems, and existential lens; attending to how you interpreted the trauma, and how this impacts how you relate to yourself and others as an adult, and what meaning is it creating in your life.
Healing from trauma is an ongoing process that can involve different seasons and different layers. Part of my intention is helping folks recover from trauma to help them find more ease, more rest, more joy, and more ability to relate to those around them with safety and connection. Investing in healing from trauma has been one of the most life-giving investments in my life and I hope to return this gift to others in my office and in my community.
